What is Genki?

The GENKI series is a popular set of Japanese language textbooks designed for beginners published by the Japan Times. It consists of two main volumes:  Genki I  and  Genki II . The series is primarily aimed at high school and college students, but suitable for anyone starting to learn Japanese. The books cover essential grammar, vocabulary, and kanji, integrating listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Each chapter typically includes dialogues, grammar explanations, vocabulary lists, practice exercises, and cultural notes, making it comprehensive and engaging. Accompanying workbooks and audio CDs help reinforce learning through exercises and listening practice.

The books feature colorful illustrations and relatable scenarios to make learning enjoyable. They provide context about Japanese culture, customs, and everyday life, enriching the language learning experience.
